Glatfelter, a global supplier of speciality papers and engineered products, has renewed its contract with transport specialist CM Downton. This latest agreement covers the transportation of paper reels used for manufacturing tea-bags and coffee filters, and extends a relationship that started in the 1990s.
Under the contract, Downton transports palletised reels of paper from Glatfelter’s manufacturing plants in Gloucestershire and South Wales to beverage producers including the majority of the leading brands located throughout the UK.
Downton also manages other aspects of Glatfelter’s operations under separate contracts that are not part of the latest announcement. These include managing both raw materials and finished goods warehouse operations, along with in-bound deliveries of raw materials to the manufacturer’s plants. This allows the company to benefit from an integrated approach that supports the needs of each part of the business while offering transport synergies, efficiencies and cost savings.
David Hutchings, Head of Business Development at CM Downton, said:
“We have a long-term relationship with Glatfelter and have been managing various aspects of their logistics operations for many years. This latest contract renewal shows that our partnership approach provides stability for our customers and helps them improve their supply chain activities and achieve their business objectives.”
