DFDS has just inked a significant five-year, multimillion Euro contract with Nomad Foods, the heavyweight of European frozen food and home to household names like Birds Eye, Goodfella’s, Aunt Bessie’s, iglo, and Findus. This agreement signals a strengthened alliance and a mutual drive to optimize their supply chains.

This fresh deal unifies several existing contracts between DFDS and various parts of Nomad Foods, solidifying their positions as long-term collaborators. Their relationship took root in 2018 when DFDS won a bid with Birds Eye for UK transport and distribution. It gained even more traction in 2023 when DFDS acquired McBurney Transport Group, a partner of Birds Eye’s since 2003.

That acquisition more than doubled the volume DFDS handles for Nomad Foods, boosting their warehousing and distribution muscle.

“We are proud to have collaborated with Nomad Foods for over two decades, developing bespoke operational solutions that have driven organic growth for both companies. With this extended partnership we work with Nomad Foods to improve their supply chain, while emphasising low emission initiatives, keeping both businesses focused on continuous improvement,” said Matt O’Dell, DFDS, Managing Director, England.

The core goal is smooth operations and ongoing progress, and this new contract, which bundles transport, customs, and logistics services into a single strategic agreement, provides the perfect platform for achieving this.

Both DFDS and Nomad Foods are dedicated to finding greener ways to minimize their environmental footprint. This includes exploring solar-powered trailers, double-deck trailers, and alternative fuel options for transport.

Nomad Foods’ Group Logistics Director, Simon Stokoe, said:

“This multimillion Euro agreement with DFDS is testament to the long-standing history between our two companies, our brands and the trusted services that have been provided to us across the years. Bringing everything together, underpinned by a shared mission for more sustainable transportation and supply chain efficiencies, makes good business sense. We look forward to achieving great things with DFDS through this partnership over the next five years.”
