After two years of great success, the logistics- and transport company NTEX increases its multimodal service to an even more efficient and sustainable combined train, sea and road solution across Europe in collaboration with Stena Line and the Italian railway operator Hannibal.

With five offices in the UK, NTEX continues to focus and develop their combined transport services between Italy and UK. From the 13th of March, a new collaboration with Stena Line and the Italian railway operator Hannibal means that NTEX now will have complete control of the transport with direct contact with Stena Line and its ferries as well as the railway.

“We launched the service in 2021 and in just under two years the service has achieved great success. While many in the market are cutting their multimodal capacities, here at NTEX we have increased them, with daily departures in both directions between Italy and the UK. Adding this new twice a week service between Europort and Melzo only makes us even stronger,” said Ed Husselbee, Group Rail Development Manager, NTEX UK.

Multimodal transport by train within Europe, combined with Stena Lines ferry services between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom means approximately 70% CO2 savings in comparison to delivering strictly by road, a quicker transit time and increased trailer capacity with loading up to 28 tons, as well as no transport tolls, delays or weekend driving bans.

“We are proud to having NTEX driving this development and we are welcoming them warmly on board of our vessels crossing the North Sea. It will require a logistics provider like NTEX to develop a view and the commercial power, a strong and reliable rail operator, a flexible Port organization and frequent ferry connections to accommodate the logistics flows between Europe and the UK,” said Rob Mittelmeijer, Freight Commercial Manage, Stena Line.

“A great advantage is in fact represented by the great eco-sustainability of the multimodal mode: by limiting road transport, in fact, the use of vehicles such as trains and ships with a lower environmental impact is promoted. The efficiency of a group like NTEX makes our partnership perfect, at an operational and planning level. Difficulties are always solved with solutions that support market and customer demands,” added Andrea Spagnuolo, Sales & Business Development Manager, Hannibal SpA
